SP Engineering was brought in to reevaluate the HVAC design for a new 2,200 sf motor control center (MCC) at the GP Brewton tissue mill. Load calculations conducted based on the skin load of the building and electrical equipment to be installed concluded that the proposed A/C system was 40% oversized. In some industries excess in abilities is a safe harbor, but in air-conditioning in the South this leads to rapid cycling of equipment and high humidity in the space. A small system was designed by SPE that included an air scrubber to minimize corrosion.
